Community Security Killed In Ambush While Chasing Bandits in Katsina

A member of the Community Watch and Vigilante group, identified as Mika Ahmed, was shot and killed on Wednesday during a pursuit of suspected bandits in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Our source, Zagazola Makama stated that , the incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. when the vigilante team was trailing armed bandits fleeing a military operation in Bakai Village. The assailants, reportedly in possession of a large herd of stolen cattle, were intercepted near Yan Dorowa Village.

The encounter quickly turned deadly when the bandits ambushed the vigilantes, opening fire and fatally wounding Ahmed, 30. He was rushed to the General Hospital in Kankara but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Local authorities have condemned the attack and pledged to intensify security operations in the area. Security forces, including the military and police, are continuing efforts to apprehend the assailants, who are believed to be linked to a series of recent attacks across the region.
