Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin has received dozens of defectors from the Kwankwasiyya Movement of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) into the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state.
Speaking during a brief reception organized in honour of the defectors in Kano, Senator Barau congratulated the new APC members for taking a positive decision of joining a progressive party for positive societal development.
“Whenever God intends to improve your life, He directs you to the right path. I believe He has brought you into the APC to make life better for you. While APC is building a progressive society you made the right move in dumping a party that demolishes society,” he said.
Barau urged the new members to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and contribute to consolidating APC’s gains in Kano and Nigeria in general. The reception was attended by various APC stakeholders, party leadership in the state, similarly the defectors assured Senator Barau of their commitment to the victory of APC in 2027 elections.
This development has been described as another setback to the state ruling party, the NNPP, it can be recalled that recently, some key political office holders have also left the party for APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
