“I find it preposterous that Malam Nasir el-Rufai is accusing his successor, Governor Uba Sani, of the abduction and illegal arrest of his former commissioner and political ally, Bashir Saidu. This is rich coming from el-Rufai. Nasir el-Rufai’s government abducted multiple, some of whom have never been seen in public again.”
“What happened to Abubakar Dadiyata Idris, who was abducted in Kaduna in 2019 after criticising the el-Rufai government? He was whisked away by armed men, never to be seen again. To this day, nobody knows Dadiyata’s fate or whereabouts.”
“What about music mogul Audu Maikori, who was arrested Gestapo-style by the el-Rufai government after he criticised el-Rufai? He was so roughly treated that he fled Nigeria to the United States. A court eventually ordered the el-Rufai administration to pay Mr. Maikori ₦40 million in damages for his illegal arrest.”
“Then there are the demolitions of his critic’s homes, including the houses of Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi and Inuwa Abdulkadir, the then North-west Zonal Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, who was an ally of Nasir el-Rufai’s political foe, Senator Shehu Sani.”
“Then, there is the demolition of another critic’s home under the guise that the house hosted a sex party. It was later established that the so-called sex party was a prank, and the prankster was not even the owner of the building. Yet, the el-Rufai regime destroyed Aisha Yakubu’s home. “
“For a man who ran his government like a kidnapper and bandit, it is rich for el-Rufai to complain that he is being given a dose of his own medicine. So he knows how much it hurts. Yet, he did it to others.”
“El-Rufai is a man lacking in empathy, seeking the public’s sympathy. I encourage Governor Uba Sani to do the needful. If anyone, including el-Rufai, is found wanting, arrest them and if they stole government money, make them vomit their yam. “
