According to news published by BBC, Hungary’s assistant coach Adam Szalai is in a stable condition after collapsing during their Nations League match against the Netherlands in Amsterdam.

The Spanish referee, Jesus Gil Manzano, paused the game for about 10 minutes before Szalai was taken off the field on a stretcher. Spectators and players applauded as he was transported to an ambulance. Szalai was then taken to a hospital in Amsterdam for further examination.
A statement from the Hungarian Football Association confirmed Szalai’s condition is stable, and he is conscious.
Szalai retired from international football in 2023 after earning 86 caps for Hungary. During his playing career, he represented several clubs, including Mainz, Schalke, Hoffenheim, and Basel. He also had stints in Spain with Real Madrid B and in Germany with Stuttgart and Hannover.
After the delay, the game resumed, with the Netherlands winning 4-0 to secure a spot in the Nations League quarter-finals.
Wout Weghorst opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a penalty awarded after a VAR review. Cody Gakpo added a second penalty after Donyell Malen was fouled, giving the Dutch a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Denzel Dumfries made it 3-0 in the second half, setting up Teun Koopmeiners for the fourth goal.
The victory puts the Netherlands on eight points, guaranteeing second place in Group A3 due to a better head-to-head record against Hungary, who remain on five points with one match left.
