The United Nations has reported that nearly 70% of those killed in Gaza’s recent conflict are women and children, highlighting the devastating impact of the violence on the most vulnerable members of society. The IPSC is urging the Irish government, especially in light of the upcoming general election, to take a stronger stance by introducing sanctions against Israel for what they describe as war crimes committed against the Palestinian people.
In a statement, the organizers emphasized the urgency of the situation: “As the general election approaches, it is crucial that we make it clear to our political candidates that we demand meaningful sanctions on Israel. The time for action is now.” They further pointed out that Gaza has been suffering under Israeli military operations for over a year, during which more than 43,000 Palestinians have lost their lives, including over 17,000 children.
The statement also noted the dire conditions faced by the population in Gaza, with approximately 10,000 people reported missing and their fates unknown. The ongoing attacks have left around 100,000 people injured, while widespread famine, disease, and a collapsed healthcare system continue to exacerbate the crisis.
Nearly two million people in Gaza have been displaced, living in constant fear of further violence and without adequate shelter or resources. The protest organizers are calling on the Irish government to use its influence to take meaningful action in response to the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe and to ensure that those responsible for the suffering are held accountable.
This demonstration is part of a growing international movement demanding greater pressure on Israel to end its military operations in Gaza and to respect the rights and dignity of Palestinians...CLICK TO READ THE FULL NEWS HERE▶▶
