He commended the troops for their efforts in curbing oil theft and pipeline vandalism, urging them to intensify operations against economic saboteurs in the Niger Delta.
“Your task of protecting critical national infrastructure remains paramount. Continue to work in synergy with other agencies to ensure that oil thieves are kept out of business. Together, we can meet and surpass the Federal Government’s target for increased oil production,” he said.
Earlier, the Commander of Sector 3 JTF OPDS, Brig.-Gen. Sani Ahmed, welcomed the GOC and reassured him of the sector’s commitment to fulfilling its mandate. He noted that efforts had been made to improve logistics, especially boat maintenance, and infrastructural development, to enhance operational efficiency.

As part of the visit, Emekah paid a courtesy visit to the Amanyanabo of Okochiri Kingdom, HRM King Ateke Michael Tom, where he formally introduced himself as the new GOC of 6 Division.
He acknowledged the role of traditional rulers in peacebuilding, commending King Ateke for his contributions to stability in Rivers State. He urged the monarch to continue advocating for peace and called on vandals to desist from illegal activities for the nation’s economic growth.
Responding, King Ateke emphasized the importance of peace, stating, “Without peace, we cannot succeed in any endeavor.” He pledged to support security agencies in fighting criminality within his domain.
The visit was part of the Nigerian Army’s ongoing engagement with key stakeholders in the region to strengthen security and economic stability.
