Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has declared that the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) remains unshaken by the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s ambitions to reclaim power in the state during the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the Government House in Kano, Yusuf dismissed APC’s claims of dominance, asserting that power ultimately belongs to God and warning against any threats to the people of Kano.
“Let me be clear, whoever threatens the good people of Kano will face the consequences. Power belongs to God, and we pray it is given to those with the best interests of Kano at heart. We will not be intimidated or threatened,” he stated.
The governor emphasized his administration’s commitment to fulfilling its mandate, focusing on delivering democratic dividends rather than engaging in political rivalry ahead of 2027.
Yusuf’s remarks followed comments by APC leaders, including the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and Director of Publicity, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim, who dismissed the NNPP as a non-threat.
Ganduje, represented by Kano APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas at a recent party event, accused the NNPP of riding on APC’s internal issues in the last election, declaring that the Kwankwasiyya movement has lost relevance in Kano.
Ganduje stated, “If not for our internal issues, Kwankwaso wouldn’t have won any election in Kano. This time around, he will see the reality. Kwankwasiyya is done, and even the governor is unaware of everything happening around him.”
Governor Yusuf, in response, reaffirmed his administration’s focus on service delivery, calling on Kano residents to unite for the state’s development while cautioning against political intimidation. Tap Here To Read Full Details
