The video, originally uploaded by a media outlet, featured Pastor Korede Komaiya making the controversial statement.

In the video, Pastor Komaiya preached to his congregation, urging them to pay their first fruits as soon as the new year begins.

He emphasized that this offering should come before paying school fees, eating, purchasing a new car, or making any other major financial decisions.

His statement included: “It is first thing first, immediately you do, before you pay school fees, before you eat, before you change your vehicle, before you renovate your house, before you reinvest in your business.”

After seeing the video, an influencer took to his page to criticize the pastor, calling him a “hungry thief” for his sermon.

He wrote, “My friend, will you keep quiet? Hungry thief! You’ll be the first fruit of hellfire. These clowns keep twisting scripture to feed their bellies.”
