The All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to the emergence of a billboard in Abuja promoting President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election.
The billboard, spotted at the busy Area One axis of the Federal Capital Territory, sparked debates as it carried the message: “Grassroots support for Tinubu 2027, the 1019 initiative,” alongside an image of the President and his wife, Oluremi Tinubu.
Bala Ibrahim, the APC National Publicity Director, clarified that the party is not behind the campaign.
While acknowledging the billboard’s existence, Ibrahim stated that the APC was unaware of the campaign and suggested that it could have been organized by groups or individuals supporting the President.
“At the party and personal level, I am not aware. If you have seen it, you may wish to check. It could have been done by a group or individuals,” Ibrahim told Punch.
He further advised that such billboards usually carry the sponsors’ details, implying that if no APC identification is visible, it is not officially from the party.
President Tinubu, currently in his second year of a four-year term, has not openly announced plans for re-election
