Former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has described the killing of dreaded bandit leader, Bello Turji’s deputy, Aminu Kanawa as good news.
Kanawa was behind the numerous violent banditry attacks across Zurmi, Shinkafi, Isa, and Sabon Birni in Zamfara and Sokoto States.
But, he was killed alongside some commanders of Turji by troops of the Nigerian Army.
In a post on X, Ahmad wrote: “Good news! Bello Turji, the notorious bandit leader, has reportedly fled following a decisive military offensive that resulted in the elimination of his second-in-command, Aminu Kanawa, along with several key members of his group.
“Aminu Kanawa was notorious for masterminding numerous violent banditry attacks across Zurmi, Shinkafi, Isa, and Sabon Birni in Zamfara and Sokoto States.”
On his part, former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani said troops should ensure the protection of locals from reprisal attacks.
“While the elimination of the offspring of the kingpin of banditry in Zamfara, Bello Turji is a major operational success, efforts must be made to protect the locals from possible reprisals by the terrorists,” he wrote.Tap Here To Read Full Details
