About 16 people have been reported dead in a fresh attack in the Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.
A counter-terrorism expert, Zagazola Makama, in a post on X said that the victims were killed in a series of attacks between herders and farmers in the community.
According to Makama, the attacks occurred between May 12 and 14.
The villages affected include Mungadosso, Bandawa, Wuro Guga and the remote Fitowa bush.
Sources within the communities also said that casualties were recorded on the side of the farmers and the herders.
βThe initial attacks began in Mungadosso and Bandawa, where suspected herders reportedly carried out three separate raids, leaving about 10 people dead and several homes razed. Community members believe the attackers had used a settlement in Wuro Guga via Jen as their base,β Makama said.
Also, authorities within the communities have called for efforts towards de-escalating the tension building up.
