JUST IN: 6 Black Marketers Arrested In Lagos Amidst Fuel Hike

The Lagos State Taskforce has arrested six suspects for illegal petrol sales, as the city grapples with fuel scarcity.

The suspects were caught selling petrol at inflated prices to motorists across Fadeyi, Maryland, and Airport Road.

CSP Adetayo Akerele, Chairman of the Taskforce, led the operation and emphasised the dangers of the black market.

“Fuel scarcity is no excuse for miscreants to exploit Lagosians,” Akerele stated, highlighting that the illegal sale of petrol not only burdens motorists but also poses serious safety risks due to the highly inflammable nature of the products.

The arrested individuals – Toibu Ishola (44), Yakubu Olayiwola (34), Adebayo Rasak (29), Maria Balogun (50), Motunrayo Dosunmu (43), and John Ogunfowokan – will be prosecuted soon.

Akerele issued a stern warning to anyone involved in illegal fuel sales or collaborating with petrol stations to stop immediately or face legal consequences.

“We are committed to curbing these illegal activities and ensuring the public’s safety is not compromised, Full Details he added.

The Taskforce also urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to the illegal sale or storage of petroleum products to prevent disasters.
