JUST IN: Gunmen Invade Yobe Again, Burn Down Vehicles, Engaged Community Guard (PHOTOS)

Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents have launched a fresh attack on Yobe State.

The attack, which occurred in Buni Yadi town, headquarters of Gujba Local Government area, is the latest in a series of violent incidents to hit the state.

According to eyewitnesses, the insurgents stormed the town on foot, setting ablaze a vigilante camp and burning down several vehicles, including two belonging to a bread factory. The attack happened at Sabon Fegi, close to the government lodge, behind the local government secretariat.

A source from the town revealed that the insurgents engaged vigilante members and special forces in a fierce battle, forcing them to flee.

β€œThey burnt down the vigilante camp, two vehicles of the bread factory, and some sections of the lodge,” the source said.

Another source from the security agency confirmed that one of the vigilantes sustained injuries during the attack.

The Public Relations Officer of the Yobe State Police Command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident, stating that the terrorists came en masse on foot and started shooting sporadically.
