The boy was killed after the gunmen were said to have collected a N17 million ransom for his expected release, Daily Trust reports.
According to Zubairu who studies at a Moroccan university was on holiday visiting his family when he was kidnapped last Friday at about 6 pm.
It was gathered that the boy drove out and parked his car to lock the gate when the gunmen accosted him, and shot him in his left shoulder before whisking him away.
A family member who spoke on the incident said the boy was taken to an undisclosed location by the kidnappers who contacted his family five days later.
The kidnappers were said to have made a ransom request of N30 million which was reduced to N17 million after a negotiation process with Zubairu’s family.
However, two days after the money was paid, the kidnappers ceased communication with the family and only informed them early Sunday morning that the boy had been killed.
Speaking on the incident, a former Nasarawa State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Halima Jabiru, who is also Zubairu’s aunt, the family paid an undisclosed ransom, only for the kidnappers to kill the boy.
However, the spokesperson for the Police in the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel, said the command was not aware of the incident
