Fresh concerns have emerged over aviation safety in Nigeria after it was revealed that the Max Air aircraft that crash-landed at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) on Tuesday night was the same aircraft involved in a previous emergency landing in Maiduguri with the Borno State Deputy Governor onboard.
The aircraft, a Boeing 737 with registration number 5N-MBD, was arriving from Lagos with 53 passengers and six crew members when it suffered a landing gear failure at approximately 10:45 PM. The aircraft’s front tire burst into flames upon landing, filling the cabin with smoke and forcing an emergency evacuation.
The Station Manager of Max Air, Malam Bello Ramadan, confirmed that all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated.
It was further revealed that the same aircraft was involved in a near-tragic incident in Maiduguri last year while transporting the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Umar Usman Kadafur, and other government officials. During that flight, the aircraft suffered another technical issues forcing an emergency landing at the Maiduguri International Airport.Tap Here To Read Full Details
