In a major security breakthrough, the Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Wasiu Akinwade, popularly known as Olori Eso, described as the most wanted and vicious hired killer and gang leader in the state’s recent history.
The arrest marks the culmination of weeks of coordinated intelligence and tactical operations by law enforcement, aimed at dismantling one of Lagos State’s most feared criminal networks.
According to police sources, the suspect—believed to be the head of a deadly gang responsible for multiple assassinations and violent crimes across Lagos and its environs—was apprehended in a sting operation.
Weapons and Equipment Recovered:
Authorities recovered a significant cache of weapons and tactical gear from the suspect, including:
- Nine (9) sophisticated firearms
- Ammunition and high-capacity magazines
- Combat daggers
- Walkie-talkies
- Undisclosed international materials (reportedly under investigation)
A senior police officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the arrest as “one of the most critical in Lagos State’s recent criminal history,” noting that Olori Eso had evaded multiple attempts to bring him to justice.
The suspect is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation. Investigators believe his arrest could lead to the unraveling of an extensive network of criminal collaborators across several states.
