The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the promotion of 20,867 senior personnel across four major security agencies: the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), and the Federal Fire Service (FFS).
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Friday, September 13.
Tunji-Ojo also revealed that special promotions have been approved for nine officers—two from the NCoS, four from the NIS, two from the NSCDC, and one from the FFS—in recognition of their exemplary service.
Promotion Breakdown:
- NCoS: 5,329 officers promoted.
- NIS: 5,112 officers promoted.
- NSCDC: 9,937 officers promoted.
- FFS: 489 officers promoted.
The promotions cover various ranks, including Inspector/Assistant Superintendent, Controllers, Comptrollers, and Commandants, across the four services under the Ministry of Interior.
During the media briefing, Tunji-Ojo, represented by Alhaji Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Board of the Services, stated that the government is committed to enhancing career development within the agencies.
This includes implementing a new training curriculum for the Federal Fire Service and a new Scheme of Service for the agency, aimed at improving operational efficiency.
Furthermore, the Minister announced that the government would complete the ongoing 2023/24 Federal Fire Service recruitment exercise by the end of the month. Full Details
