Kano State Govt Reviews Security Situation, Relax Curfew

KANO: Journalist Jailed For ‘Insulting’ Abba Yusuf In Facebook Post

The Kano State Government has further relaxed the curfew imposed on the state.

The new directive now allows residents to move freely between 6am and 6pm.

This decision comes after the initial 24-hour curfew was put in place following the violent turn of the nationwide protests.

The latest review was announced by Commissioner of Police Salman-Dogo Garba after a security council meeting at the Government House on Tuesday.

The relaxation of the curfew is aimed at enabling residents to resume their normal activities while the security situation is being monitored and reviewed.

Commissioner Garba assured the public that the curfew will continue to be reviewed as the security situation improves.

It should be recalled that the government on Sunday eased the curfew from 8am to 2pm to accommodate Christian worshippers.

Nigerians are protesting the high cost of good and bad governance in Nigeria. In some parts of the country as well as Kano, the protests have turned violent with widespread looting and destruction of properties reported.
