Lagos Sign MoU with China Contractor For The Green Line Rail Project

The Lagos State Government, led by the Governor, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) and China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC), has formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the GREEN LINE Rail Project.

The Ministry of Finance Incorporated, in collaboration with CHEC, will secure financing to design, manage, and maintain the Green Line project. This initiative is among the metro lines outlined in the Lagos State Strategic Transport Masterplan.

The proposed NE route is a 68-kilometer railway intended to connect the renowned Marina Station with various key locations, including Victoria Island, Lekki Phase 1, Ajah, Lekki 2, Ogombo, Elepetu, Eluju, Lekki Airport, and the Lekki Free Trade Zone.

Initially, this service aims to accommodate over 500,000 passengers daily, with the potential to increase to more than one million in the future.
