After Manchester City’s draw with Newcastle, Erling Haaland was seen hobbling, and championship rivals Arsenal are waiting for more information from a distance.
Following Saturday’s 1-1 lunchtime tie at Newcastle United, Erling Haaland was spotted limping out of St James’ Park, presenting Manchester City with another injury concern ahead of their title matchup with Arsenal.
The striker has sustained “some knocks,” according to Pep Guardiola, who stated he will evaluate him in the coming days. Despite managing to play the entire 90 minutes, Haaland suffered a cut heel for most of the game after a collision with Dan Burn in the first half.
After the match, the superstar from Norway was seen limping out of the dressing area, raising concerns about his condition. When asked how he was doing after the match, Guardiola replied, “He has some knocks; we’ll see in the next few days.”
This new concern follows Rodri’s announcement on Friday that he will miss the entire season due to a cruciate ligament injury sustained 21 minutes into last Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal. Consequently, City was unable to utilize their entire bench against Newcastle.
The ten-goal Haaland missed 14 games last season due to injury, so any further absences will diminish Man City’s offensive threat and unintentionally assist Arsenal, who are currently leading the league without their injured captain, Martin Ødegaard.
Following their match last weekend, a growing rivalry has emerged between the two teams. This week, after being chastised by Arsenal for their gamesmanship in Manchester, Guardiola was incensed by Mikel Arteta’s remarks implying that Man City was not beyond using “dark arts.”
