A 37-year-old housewife, Linda Stephen, has filed for divorce at a Kaduna Customary Court, citing her husband Felix Stephen’s excessive sexual demands as the primary reason for her decision.
The couple, who have been married for six years, reside in Ungwan Sunday, Kaduna. Linda claims that her husband’s persistent sexual advances have become unbearable, leading her to seek the dissolution of their marriage.
In her petition, Linda expressed her distress over Felix’s behavior, stating that he often insists on sexual relations from midnight until the early hours of the morning, disregarding her feelings and comfort.
She recounted instances where, despite her protests and tears, he would not relent. Linda revealed that she had moved out of their home three months prior, and although Felix’s relatives have urged her to return, they are unaware of the extent of her suffering.
Linda further accused Felix of physical abuse, claiming that he would resort to violence whenever she rejected his advances, even in front of their two children. This pattern of behavior has left her feeling trapped and fearful, prompting her to take legal action.
In response, Felix acknowledged his wife’s concerns but expressed a willingness to manage his sexual urges. He conveyed his love for Linda and pleaded with the court to assist in reconciling their differences rather than granting her request for divorce.
Felix mentioned that he had made efforts to reach out to Linda’s family, bringing along relatives and friends to mediate, but she remained unyielding.
The court, presided over by John Dauda, listened to both parties before deciding to adjourn the case until May 6, 2025.
The court president encouraged the couple to maintain peace during this period and to consider the possibility of reconciliation.Read Full Details
