Starting tomorrow, June 8, 2025, Nigerians will begin paying more for driver’s licenses and number plates, following a new price regime approved by the Joint Tax Board (JTB).
According to the revised structure:
Driver’s License (Motor Vehicles):
- ₦15,000 for 3 years
- ₦21,000 for 5 years
- Driver’s License (Tricycle Operators):
- ₦7,000 for 3 years
- ₦11,000 for 5 years
The JTB has directed all state licensing authorities and related agencies to begin immediate implementation of the new rates across Nigeria.
This update comes amid rising operational costs and is part of broader efforts to standardize licensing procedures nationwide.
Motorists are advised to prepare accordingly and ensure they renew their licenses under the new structure to avoid penalties.
