On the other hand, Boniface’s countryman, Frank Onyeka made his debut for Augsburg in their 3-1 German Bundesliga victory over St. Pauli on Sunday.
Though the 26-year-old midfielder didn’t score in the game, he was outstanding throughout his time on the pitch as he grabbed an assist in his club’s 3-1 win over FC St. Pauli.
Aside from being named in German Bundesliga team of the week, Onyeka who is at Augsburg on a season-long loan from Brentford, got praises from his new manager, Jess Thorup.
Thorup emphasized Onyeka’s exceptional performance, noting that while the only thing missing was a goal, his assist and overall play were truly outstanding for a first game even though he trained twice with his new team before the game.
“He (Onyeka) only trained twice and was involved in the international matches,” the coach said on Sunday, September 15.
“From the start, he showed us what a good player he is. He is ready to help the team, and that’s what he did today.
