Nigeria is “Turning a Corner,”: FG Reacts To Rumors Of Ministerial Press Briefings Relocating To London

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has firmly dismissed widespread claims that the Federal Government’s Ministerial Press Briefing Sessions have been moved from Abuja to London.

Speaking today at the eighth edition of the Ministerial Press Briefing held at the National Press Centre, Abuja, Idris stated: “This is your answer to the insinuation that the press briefing session is relocating abroad. The platform provided by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation is happening right here in Nigeria.”

Also in attendance were the Minister of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Utsev; and Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi.

Umahi confirmed the report was entirely false.

Idris took the opportunity to highlight recent economic progress, citing new data from the National Bureau of Statistics that showed headline inflation had declined to 23.71% in April 2025, down from 24.23% in March.

“The food inflation rate has eased to 21.26% year-on-year and slowed to 2.06% month-on-month,” the Minister added.

He stated that while challenges remain, Nigeria is “turning a corner,” and assured that the Tinubu administration will continue to implement people-focused policies to sustain economic recovery.

Idris urged the media to report these developments constructively and responsibly, reaffirming that the Federal Government remains fully accountable to the Nigerian people.
