Popular social media influencer, Martins Otse, known widely as VeryDarkMan, was re-arraigned today by the Nigeria Police before Justice Musa Liman at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The re-arraignment follows fresh allegations of cyberbullying, specifically targeting prominent Nigerian celebrities including actresses Iyabo Ojo and Tonto Dikeh, as well as music producer Samklef, among others.
The charges stem from a series of online posts and videos in which the influencer allegedly made defamatory and harassing comments directed at the public figures. The police claim the acts amount to violations of Nigeria’s Cybercrime Act.
Court proceedings commenced with the reading of charges to Otse, who pleaded not guilty. His legal team requested bail, which is now under the court’s consideration.
The case has sparked widespread interest on social media, with supporters and critics of VeryDarkMan expressing divergent views.
