NUJ FCT Launches Scholarship for Journalists

In a move to enhance professional development, the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council has fulfilled one of its key campaign promises by launching the 2024/2025 Scholarship Programme for journalists pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism (PGDJ) at the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ), Abuja.

The programme was announced by the NUJ FCT Council Secretary, Comrade Jide Oyekunle, in a statement recently.

According to the statement, the scholarship initiative is open to journalists in good financial standing with the union over the past two years, holding valid NUJ Identity Cards for 2023 and 2024.

Eligible candidates must have been active participants in NUJ Congresses and union activities. Beneficiaries will be required to pay 50% of the tuition fees, while the Council will subsidize the remaining 50%.

The scholarship initiative is a direct fulfillment of the promises made by the newly elected NUJ FCT Council executives, led by Chairman Comrade Grace Ike, who pledged to prioritize capacity building and career development for members.

When we promised to invest in the professional growth of our members, we meant every word,” Comrade Ike stated. “This scholarship is a testament to our commitment to making the NUJ FCT Council a hub for excellence and career advancement.”

Comrade Ike expressed optimism about the future, adding: “We are hopeful that the year 2025 will hold more promising opportunities for our members.”

“This scholarship reflects our unwavering focus on capacity building and ensuring our members remain competitive in today’s dynamic media industry.”Don’t Miss Out! READ FULL ARTICLE
