OGUN: OGSIEC Chairman Confirms Date to Hold Local Government Elections

The elections are scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 16, 2024, according to a statement by Mr. Babatunde Osibodu, the Chairman of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC).

He shared this information in a statement released to journalists in Abeokuta.

In the statement, Osibodu said on Thursday, August 8, 2024, the guidelines for conducting the elections will be released. On the same day, a meeting for stakeholders will be held. The following day, Friday, August 9, 2024, political parties will start their campaigns.

β€œThe political parties are also scheduled to hold their party primaries between Monday, August 26 to Monday, September 9, 2024,” the statement added.

Just last month, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, the Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to Governor Dapo Abiodun, denied reports that the elections would be held on October 26, 2024.

The current local government officials in Ogun State recently completed their tenure, a week ago.
