Adebutu was allegedly involved in mobilizing thugs and illegal police operatives to disrupt the election process in Iperu, Ogun State.
This has raised concerns of election violence and tampering with the democratic process.
However, Adebutu has denied the accusations, asserting that the incident was a result of an attack on his son by hoodlums, which led to an exchange of gunfire between the attackers and his security team.
Despite his claims, the DSS reportedly invited him for questioning, which ultimately led to his detention.
The Ogun PDP Publicity Secretary, Kayode Adebayo, confirmed the arrest, noting that Adebutu’s legal team has been working to secure his release.
Although the charges remain unclear, Adebayo has called for calm among party members and supporters, urging them to remain peaceful as the situation is resolved.
