The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ondo State chapter, has denied electing a new chairman after the death of Fatai Adams.
This is contained in a statement by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Ikantu Peretei who explained that a congratulatory message circulating online is fake and aimed at undermine efforts at rallying support for the PDP Governorship Candidate, Agboola Ajayi.
According to Peretei, the party’s constitution has clear provisions for replacement of officers due to death or removal, noting that the tenure of the present State Executive Committee of the party would expire on August 3.
The state Deputy Chairman, Tola Alabere, has been the Acting Chairman of the party since the demise of Adams on February 14.
