Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued a victim in Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Security sources said the incident occurred at about 2:10 p.m. on March 21 when suspected kidnappers abducted a civilian who had gone hunting at Zabir village.

The sources said troops of Sector 1, deployed at Lamingo, swiftly responded to the distress call and moved to the location.

“On sighting the troops, the kidnappers abandoned the victim and fled into nearby bushes,” the source said.

The rescued victim was subsequently debriefed by the troops, while efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.

The sources said troops have intensified patrols in the area to prevent further incidents and ensure the safety of residents.
