In 2012 when the talk of coalition to form APC started, we had the ACN fully under the leadership of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the CPC, under the firm leadership of Gen Muhammadu Buhari, 5 Governors from the New PDP and a faction of APGA led by Rochas Okorocha amongst other notable leaders
You could see from the founding fathers that they were not angry politicians or people going for vengeance against the government of the day because their interests were not protected
In fact, two parties emptied their ranks for the merger: the entire leadership and supporters of the ACN and the CPC joined forces, ensuring no faction was left behind. Their goal was to rescue Nigeria from the wreckage caused by the then PDP administration.
The gladiators then didn’t want a new leaf then because their respective parties were in shackles or they lost control of their party’s structures, no, they were fully in charge
They were not selfish either; they played the game of give and take, with a spirit of ‘you go first, and I’ll go next.’ It was maturity at its highest level.
When you compare what happened with APC and what’s happening now, you can see a very sharp contrast. The major players involved in the coalition talks now are doing so out of desperation, revenge and anger. Clearly, they are bound to fail. They are mostly high muck-a-muck.
They are gathering now because they have lost control of their party’s structures to a great extent and staying put will be toxic for their desperate ambitions to rule our country. The big question remains, how can these people that can’t unite their parties unite a complex nation like us?!
Some of the people shouting for the coalition now are doing so because they can’t live without government patronage and since the current administration has shut them out, they are looking for other means to blackmail the government to get what they want.
In all honesty, they know individually and collectively that they have nothing better to offer Nigerians, but they are blinded by greed, selfishness and ego!
Anyway, they know the current president well. They understand they can’t match his political prowess, they are aware of his background and how he came to power. They know the road ahead is almost mission impossible, but they can’t stop—this is their last chance, and they’ll do whatever it takes to try desperately once more.
Nobody is stopping them from gathering as that’s their fundamental human rights, majority of Nigerians have already seen through them and we know they want to come back and destroy us again, taking us to the dark ages again!!
Unlike when APC was formed and the way Nigerians embraced the party, this new talk of coalition if it eventually comes to reality is already been rejected by my fellow compatriots because most of the actors are insincere and part of the problems we are trying to solve now.Tap Here To Read Full Details
