PDP Statesmen Attacked Wike, Aduda On Undermining Party In North Central

Ahead of Saturday’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) North Central Zonal Congress in Jos, Plateau State, Hon. Abraham Ajiya, a frontline aspirant for the position of National Vice Chairman (North Central), has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and former Senator Philip Aduda of working to destabilize the party in the region.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, May 21, Ajiya warned stakeholders to reject all forms of imposition and manipulation, describing such practices as threats to the PDP’s internal democracy and integrity.

“I speak not just as an aspirant but as a committed party man and a believer in the founding vision of the PDP as the true vessel of democracy in Nigeria,” Ajiya said.

He alleged a plot to hand over the North Central zone to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that Wike and Aduda are promoting a candidate not to strengthen the PDP, but to compromise it ahead of the 2027 general elections.

His words: “It is no longer in doubt that the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, working through former Senator Philip Aduda, is pushing a candidate for the office of National Vice Chairman, North Central, to serve a wider political strategy that benefits the APC. This is not democracy; this is subversion.”

He accused the duo of orchestrating defections, holding secret meetings, and using financial inducements to sway delegates.

“We have seen the warning signs—defections in the FCT, closed-door meetings, strategic endorsements, and cash inducements. All these point to a calculated agenda to weaken our party,” he said.

Ajiya insisted that the North Central is not a political pawn.

“This is the birthplace of the PDP, the home of our first national chairman, Chief Solomon Lar of blessed memory. We will not allow its legacy to be sold or compromised,” he declared.

Reaffirming his loyalty to the PDP since 1999, Ajiya said, “I have never jumped ship. I have never betrayed our cause. My record speaks for itself. Through the highs and lows, I have remained faithful to this party.”

He called on delegates from Plateau, Benue, Kogi, Niger, Nasarawa, Kwara, and the FCT to resist any attempt to hijack the congress.

He said: “I offer myself to serve—to rebuild, reunite, and reposition our party for victory in 2027 and beyond. Let us rise to defend the PDP and its democratic ideals.”
