Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, has expressed confidence that the Labour Party’s Peter Obi could secure the presidency in 2027 if Nigerians work together.

“We are dedicated to promoting good governance and accountability by bringing together key stakeholders to discuss Nigeria’s future,” Tanko said.

“This event underscores the movement’s commitment to unity, justice, and equity.”

Reflecting on the 2023 election, Tanko stated, “During the 2023 general election, we were accused of lacking structure, yet Peter Obi won the election but was denied victory due to electoral malpractice. This time, history will not repeat itself.”

He also affirmed, “Obi has the potential to emerge as president in 2027 if we put our acts together.”

Tanko described the movement’s focus on ensuring electoral reform and mobilising Nigerian youth.

“We will advocate for electoral reform and champion it legally and physically. We will mobilise our people on the streets, in the courts, and present our proposals to the National Assembly,” he explained, stressing the need for change and accountability in leadership.

He urged the South East to continue backing the movement and called for a truly independent appointment process for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairperson.

Prof. Stella Okunna, chair of the event, highlighted the importance of good governance, thanking organisers for revitalising the movement. She encouraged broadening its influence beyond party lines.

Valentine Ozigbo, Labour Party’s 2025 governorship candidate for Anambra, urged unity, saying, “The document ‘Ka Anambra Chawapu’ outlines policies for a better, brighter, and more prosperous Anambra, which, when implemented, will ensure a better future for the state.”

He added that a collective effort is essential for change.

In a virtual address, economist Prof. Pat Utomi called for cooperation and proactive steps within the movement, emphasising that unity is key to realising a brighter future for Nigeria…CLICK TO READ THE FULL NEWS HERE▶▶
