The Kano State Police Command has arrested the wife and several associates of Ahmad Adam Abba, a suspected Chadian terrorist wanted for the murder of 17 people in his home country.

The arrests took place on the eve of the National Tijjaniyya Maulud ceremony, held last week at Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.

Speaking to journalists in Kano on Friday, Commissioner of Police Salman Garba revealed that Abba, who remains at large, had been planning to establish a terrorist base in the state.

“The wanted Chadian terrorist has fled Nigeria, but we have successfully apprehended three of his associates, including his wife, another Chadian named Jibrin Mohammed, aged 42, and a Nigerian,” Garba stated.

He confirmed that intelligence-led operations led to the recovery of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) during the crackdown.

“Acting on intelligence reports, we recovered IEDs, and discreet investigations are ongoing,” he added.
Heightened Security Measures

Garba reassured Kano residents that security agencies were working tirelessly to neutralise any potential threats.

“Our teams are collaborating closely with intelligence agencies and local communities to identify suspicious activities and individuals who may pose security risks,” he said.

He also stressed the importance of public cooperation in intelligence gathering, urging residents to report any unusual activities to the authorities.

“Building trust and cooperation between the police and the public is crucial in tackling crime and preventing emerging security threats,” he noted.

The commissioner further disclosed that patrols and surveillance had been intensified in areas vulnerable to criminal activity.

Additionally, he stated that the police command, through its public relations unit, would continue conducting awareness campaigns to educate the public on security matters.

“Our commitment to ensuring the safety of Kano’s residents remains steadfast. We encourage everyone to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements immediately,” he concluded.

The police assured the public that investigations were ongoing and efforts were being intensified to track down Abba and his accomplices.Tap Here for the Full Story
