The Katsina State Police Command has foiled an armed bandit attack on Ruwan Doruwa village in Dutsinma Local Government Area, neutralizing seven suspected bandits and recovering 109 rustled animals.
The command’s Public Relations Officer confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday, stating that the operation demonstrated the swift response and collaboration among security forces in the state.
The incident occurred on Jan. 18 at about 9:00 a.m. when a distress call was received at the Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters about an armed bandit attack on the village. The assailants, reportedly armed with AK-47 rifles, had launched a sporadic assault on the community.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), in collaboration with the military, Department of State Services (DSS), Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KTSCWC), and local vigilantes, swiftly mobilized and engaged the attackers in a fierce gunfight.
“Seven suspected bandits were neutralized during the operation, while others fled with various degrees of injuries, abandoning 61 cows, 44 sheep, two donkeys, one goat, and one dog,” the statement read.
The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the operatives for their gallantry, professionalism, and quick response. He reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the people.
The CP also urged residents to support the ongoing fight against crime by providing timely and useful information to law enforcement agencies.
