An Assistant Superintendent of Police, Idris Lawal, has been crushed to death by a hit-and-run driver in Ekiti State.
The incident occurred at a checkpoint in Ayemi Garage along Iworoko Road in Ado-Ekiti.
The deceased officer who was attached to the Ekiti State Command was rushed to Ekiti State Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) for immediate medical attention but was confirmed dead by the doctors.
According to reports, the incident happened when the driver of the vehicle – a white unmarked Mercedes Benz – approached a stop-and-search operation around 11 pm on Monday, September 10.
The police command in the state has since issued an internal memo as the body of the office has been deposited in the mortuary for onward autopsy. View Photos
