Popular Anambra Native Doctor Akwa Okuko Sentenced To Two Years Jail Term

A popular Anambra native doctor, Chidozie Nwangwu popularly called Akwa Okuko is to spend two years in jail, after pleading guilty to charges brought against him by the Anambra State Government.

Ndem Kalu reports that the high-profile native doctor known for his flamboyant lifestyle pleaded guilty to the offence of administering Okeite charms for people for accumulation of wealth by unlawful means and others, under a Plea Bargain in order to get a lesser punishment.

He was convicted by Justice Jude Obiora at the Anambra State High Court in Awka, marking a significant milestone in the state’s fight against superstition and organized crime.

The native doctor’s guilty plea is said to mark a significant victory for the Anambra State Government in its efforts to combat superstition and promote a more rational and enlightened society.

He was arrested in February 2025 by operatives of Agunechemba Security outfit on allegation of aiding and abetting kidnapping and money rituals.
