Ruben Dias is back into the Manchester City team for the trip to Ipswich Town in the Premier League
Ruben Dias is back in the Manchester City starting XI for the game against Ipswich but Nathan Ake has missed the trip to Portman Road after picking up an injury.
Dias only returned to training this week after sustaining a problem in the Manchester derby last month and playing on through the injury. He hasn’t played since but is straight into the side to face Ipswich.
That may be in no small part down to the absence of Ake. The Dutch defender has started the last five matches and played the full game at Brentford in midweek, but is now injured and will be a doubt for Paris Saint-Germain next week; Pep Guardiola may be asked about the injury.
Ake’s absence means that despite Dias’s return it is the ninth game in a row in all competitions where City have had just two of their main four centre-backs available for selection. Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis will both fill out the squad when their January moves from Lens and Palmeiras respectively are completed.
Matheus Nunes also starts again at right-back, with captain Kyle Walker missing for the third consecutive game as he looks to complete a January move away from the club. The 34-year-old defender asked to leave last week and has not been considered for selection since.
City kick off at Ipswich in eighth place in the league but could rise as high as fourth with a win by at least three goals. Guardiola’s side are looking to build some momentum again after throwing away a two-goal lead at Brentford.Tap Here for the Full Story
