In a significant step toward regional integration and development, the Managing Directors of the South South Development Commission (SSDC) and the South East Development Commission (SEDC) held a high-level meeting today, reaffirming their commitment to work together for the advancement of both regions.
The meeting, described as “enriching and forward-looking,” was confirmed in a statement issued by Usoro Akpabio, Managing Director of SSDC.
“Earlier today, I had a truly enriching meeting with my brother and counterpart, the MD/CEO of the South East Development Commission, Dr. MOII,” the statement read.
“We had a meaningful exchange of ideas on how to shape the future of our regions and explore ways to collaborate more closely, especially considering the many ties and shared communities between the South South and South East.”
Akpabio emphasized that the collaboration would focus on sustainable development, economic empowerment, and strategic infrastructure across state lines.
“I am excited about the possibilities ahead and look forward to deepening this partnership for the progress and well-being of our people,” she added.
The meeting marks a symbolic and strategic alliance, especially at a time when regional cooperation is being recognized as essential for national cohesion and equitable development.
Both commissions are expected to unveil joint initiatives in the coming months.
