Review curriculum to reduce Japa syndrome – Lecturer tells Nigerian Govt

A lecturer in the Department of Communication and Language Arts, University of Ibadan, Dr. Bisi Olawuyi, has advised the Federal Government to urgently review the current educational curriculum in the country.

Olawuyi noted that this is necessary in order to tackle the menace of Japa syndrome among the youths of the country.

The university don spoke while addressing journalists on the sidelines of an oratory competition christened ‘Superbowl’, held in the institution on Friday.

Leadnaija reports that the competition was attended by students from various tertiary institutions across the country.

Olawuyi who said that the programme was organised in order to discover and develop future leaders through oratory competition, said the educational curriculum does not address the challenges facing the country.

Noting that Nigeria has the potentials to be a sought after country, Olawuyi lamented the rate of migration of youths to other countries in search of greener pastures
