Hundreds of people had gathered to listen to a recital of ‘Shiv Katha’ by religious leader Pradip Mishra when a stampede-like situation unfolded.
Police and district administration officials have denied any claims of a stampede.
“Some women at the event fell and sustained minor injuries,” Senior Superintendent of Police Vipin Tada told PTI. He added that police at the scene quickly assisted them and provided first aid.
“As per the latest information, there was a crowd surge near the entry gate… There are no reports of any casualties at this time. Adequate security personnel have been deployed at the site,” said Meerut District Magistrate Deepak Meena.
Denying reports that people had been trapped, Meena told reporters that the situation was under control.
“All necessary arrangements for the program were made as required. The arrangements and security were planned in advance after an inspection of the venue by myself and the Superintendent of Police,” he said....Don’t Miss Out! CLICK HERE TO KEEP READING> >>>
