The troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested a suspected gunrunner, Alhaji Adamu Usman, and recovered a fabricated submachine gun in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The suspect was apprehended on January 13, 2025, during a well-coordinated operation at his residence in Maraban Gassol, following credible intelligence on his involvement in illegal arms trafficking.
A statement by the Commander of 6 Brigade, Brig.-Gen. Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, confirmed the operation. He disclosed that the fabricated submachine gun was recovered during a search of the suspect’s residence.
Uwa commended the troops for their gallantry and professionalism, emphasizing the brigade’s commitment to combating arms proliferation and maintaining peace in Taraba State.
He called on residents of the state to continue supporting security agencies with credible information to address security challenges effectively.
“The Nigerian Army remains resolute in its mission to safeguard lives and restore normalcy in all parts of Taraba and beyond,” Uwa said.
