Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has asserted that the political and developmental interests of the Southeast region are better safeguarded under the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He made this statement during a meeting of Southeast APC leaders held in Enugu on Tuesday.
Addressing prominent party figures and stakeholders, Uzodimma urged leaders across the region to mobilize support for the APC by highlighting the tangible benefits of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
“You must have seen how sitting governors in the other geo-political zones are now joining the APC,” he said. “It is by joining the APC, which is in charge of the government at the center in Nigeria and other sub-national governments, that the Southeast will be very close to the corridors of power.”
The high-level meeting, aimed at boosting the APC’s presence in the region ahead of the 2027 general elections, was attended by Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Chief Benjamin Kalu, former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Minister for Innovation, Science, and Technology Chief Uche Nnaji, Dozie Ikedife Jr., and members of the APC Zonal Executive Committee.
Uzodimma called for unity among Southeast leaders, encouraging them to work collaboratively despite individual political differences.
“We have decided to see Southeast as a family, tolerate each other’s shortcomings, and work as a formidable team to achieve the desired results,” he stated.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from the Southeast APC leadership to strengthen the party’s grassroots influence and improve its electoral prospects in future contests.
