Former Manchester United player Tahith Chong collapsed on the pitch on Friday during Luton Town’s Championship clash with Plymouth at Home Park. Chong went down on the edge of the penalty area just before halftime after taking a blow to the head during the game.
He lay motionless on the pitch and was quickly treated by medical staff, who rushed to the aid of the midfielder. A stretcher was brought onto the field, but fortunately the 24-year-old was able to walk off the pitch accompanied by the medical staff.
Chong reportedly had a large lump on the left side of his forehead following the collision. He was replaced at the break by Jacob Brown.
Luton ended up losing the game to Wayne Rooney’s side 3-1 and sit down in 16th place in the table, while Plymouth climb above them and into 13th on eight points after seven games played.
Plymouth and Luton have both shown their support for the Tahith Chong. Luton boss Rob Edwards said after the match: “He’s up and about and fine. So we’ll see the extent of it concussion wise. He was a bit sore, but he’s fine.”

Chong began his career at Old Trafford. The versatile midfielder came through the Manchester United academy but failed to break into the first team on a regular basis at Old Trafford. The midfielder moved from Manchester United to Birmingham in 2022 and later joined Luton Town a year later.
Tahith Chong made 38 appearances for Luton Town. He netted five times in all competitions last season. The midfielder has featured in all of Luton’s Championship games so far as the Hatters aim to return to the Premier League following relegation last season.
