A terrorist armed group attacked the Niger-Benin pipeline on Friday evening near Mountseka in Konni Department, setting parts of the infrastructure ablaze. The incident, which occurred shortly after the breaking of the fast, sent massive flames into the sky, as captured in shocking footage filmed by local villagers.
However, the attack raises fresh concerns over the security of the multi-billion-dollar project, which has long been considered a strategic asset for Niger’s economy.
