Chief Martin Onovo, a human rights activist, petroleum engineer, and former presidential candidate of the National Conscience Party (NCP), has criticized the administration of President Bola Tinubu, speaking in an interview with THE SUN.
He described the current government as the worst Nigeria has experienced since independence in 1960.
Onovo stated that his warning in 2023 about the removal of the fuel subsidy was ignored, leading to severe hardships for Nigerians.
He argued that the decision has pushed many citizens into deeper poverty stating that Nigerians are now dying and queuing for palliatives, highlighting the level of the situation across the country.Tap Here for the Full Story
He also condemned the government’s handling of key issues, including insecurity and corruption.
According to Onovo, the levels of insecurity and poverty are unprecedented and referred to data from the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics, which he said confirmed record-high insecurity.
On corruption, Onovo accused the administration of operating with audacious impunity and claimed that the government has failed to prioritize the welfare and security of the people, which, he argued, is the primary responsibility of any administration.
“For me this government is an ad hoc one. And this ad hoc Tinubu regime is the worst regime since 1960. It is by far the very worst. The reason is simply. It is incompetent; it is corrupt, deceitful, divisive and destructive,” he said.
