Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign defender Axel Disasi on loan, but the move is now in doubt as the player has expressed a preference for Aston Villa. However, despite the agreement between the two clubs, Disasi has reportedly turned down Tottenham’s offer, having already agreed personal terms with Aston Villa. The 25 year old French center-back appears keen on a move to Villa Park, potentially creating a standoff between Chelsea and the player.
Chelsea, however, have made it clear that they have no intention of negotiating with Aston Villa. With both clubs competing for a Champions League spot, the Blues are unwilling to strengthen a direct rival in the Premier League. This stance complicates Disasi’s situation, as he remains determined to join Unai Emery’s side. According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, Disasi, who joined Chelsea from AS Monaco in the summer of 2023, has had an inconsistent first season in England.
While he has shown glimpses of quality, Chelsea’s defensive struggles and ongoing squad changes have led to uncertainty regarding his long term future at the club. Despite his desire to move, Chelsea’s reluctance to do business with Villa could force the defender to either reconsider the Spurs offer or stay at Stamford Bridge until the end of the season.
