Tragedy struck at the Abia State Police Command on Thursday as the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Umuahia, DSP Kenneth Ndu, slumped and died while eating with fellow officers, ABN TV reports.
According to sources, DSP Ndu had just returned from an investigative operation with his team when he decided to have a meal at the command headquarters. While eating, he reportedly gripped his spoon tightly, causing concern among his colleagues, who immediately rushed to assist him. Moments later, he collapsed.

Efforts to save him were hampered by the lack of medical personnel at the Police Clinic on Bende Road, where he was first taken. He was then rushed to the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Umuahia, where doctors confirmed his death. His body has since been deposited in the morgue.
Sources reveal that DSP Ndu was due for retirement from the Nigerian Police Force this month. His sudden demise has left colleagues and associates in shock.
Attempts to reach the Abia State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Maureen Chinaka, for official comments were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
More details to follow as investigations continue.
