Arsenal have reportedly reached out regarding a potential move for Brighton and Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson, according to The Guardian.
The 20-year-old made a strong impression when he broke into Brighton’s first team, but injuries have hindered his progress, limiting his opportunities this season. As a result, he has struggled to secure a regular spot under manager Fabian Hurzeler, making just two Premier League starts. Reports suggest that Brighton are open to letting him leave before the transfer deadline.
According to Team Talk, Arsenal have expressed interest in signing the Irish striker and have already initiated contact to explore the terms of a possible deal. Brighton are willing to loan him out but would also consider a permanent transfer for around ÂŁ40 million.
However, securing Ferguson’s signature won’t be easy, as Bayer Leverkusen, Everton, Bournemouth, and Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring the situation. Additionally, West Ham United are said to be in a strong position to complete the deal.
Arsenal are actively searching for a new striker after Gabriel Jesus suffered a serious knee injury. The Gunners recently made a £60 million bid for Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, but their offer was rejected as Villa are unwilling to sell mid-season. This has led Mikel Arteta to consider Ferguson as a potential alternative.
Despite Ferguson’s recent struggles, his 6ft 2in frame and raw talent suggest he has significant potential. However, he is still developing and may need time to reach his peak.
