Harvey Elliott has enjoyed quite the summer for the England under 21’s.
He scored the opening goal for England in last night’s 3-2 win over Germany in the final.
This was the fifth goal of the tournament for Elliott, which earned him the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award.
His performances have been a welcomed distraction, with his club future far from clear.
He played 53 times for Liverpool across all competitions in the 2023/24 under Jürgen Klopp, with four goals and 14 assists.
However, since Arne Slot came in to replace Klopp in the summer of 2024, Elliott has seen his opportunities limited.
In 2024/25, he played 28 times in all competitions.
Whilst he scored more goals (5), he only had three assists with just one of the goals coming in the Premier League.
Elliott also went from 2,786 total minutes in Klopp’s final season to 822 in Slot’s first.
The club-record signing of Florian Wirtz and two-year contract extension for Mohamed Salah have further put doubts into his future at Liverpool.
With Wirtz and Salah playing in both of Elliott’s favoured positions, it is hard to see where he increases this total minutes next season.
If anything, he is more likely to see his minutes decrease than increase.
This had led to many clubs being rumoured to sign the former Fulham and Blackburn youngster.
Brighton and Hove Albion have been the club most linked with Elliott’s services.
Two further Premier League sides are now said to be keen on his signing.
According to reports, Elliot has caught the attention of Everton and Leeds United.
The former would be a shock given the local rivalry between both sides and Elliott’s boyhood fandom of the red half of Merseyside.
Should he move to Everton this would help build on the momentum already gained during David Moyes’ second tenure as Toffees boss.
Leeds United are also looking to add reinforcements after a two year absence from the Premier League.
Elliott’s performances in the summer will have added an extra few million onto his price tag.
Having failed to establish himself as a regular starter at Anfield, he has shown his quality in a national shirt and his bit part role with Liverpool.
At a club with less expectations, Elliott will be a welcome addition to 60% of other Premier League clubs.
